很多娱乐节目都曾经盘点过历史上经典的“荧幕伴侣”，他们在荧幕上的爱情故事可能曾经感动了很多人，也可能很多观众会误以为他们在现实生活中也是一对。他们这样的恋情就叫做showmance（荧幕恋情）。

Showmance means the romance actors engage in for the run of a show. once the run is over so is the romance.荧幕恋情（showmance）是演员在戏剧表演中上演的恋情。表演结束时，恋情也随之终结。

The term originated in the theater and moved to movies and scripted television and then reality television. The term has now moved to the populace to describe any contrived romance.这个说法初现于剧院表演，后来适用范围扩展到电影、电视剧以及真人秀电视节目。现在，这个词已经可以用来描述任何形式的虚假恋情了。

For example:A: I didn't know Anthony and Cicely were dating.我没听说安东尼和西塞莉在谈恋爱啊。B: It's just a showmance, Cicely is just dating Anthony just to make Edgar jealous.那不过是荧幕恋情而已，西塞莉跟安东尼约会就是为了让埃德加嫉妒。

一方面在荧幕上，不是情侣的演员必须扮作情侣。而另一方面在真实生活中，成为情侣的明星们却因种种原因必须三缄其口。纵观娱乐圈，地下情似乎成为众多明星感情生活的潜规则，他们中有的绝口不提恋情，却悄然“私定终身”；有的恋情已是公开的秘密，当事人却遮遮掩掩，矢口否认。

“地下情”用英语说很简单，就是secret love（秘密恋情）。这与secret affair（偷情）还是有微妙区别的，后者多指“有一腿”或是不正当暧昧关系。曾经有部名为《地下情》的香港电影，其英文译名用的是Love Unto Waste。

另外，extramarital affair就是“婚外情”、“婚外恋”的意思，口语中一般表达为be unfaithful to one's wife/husband或者have an affair；不管怎么表达，反正都是sexual indiscretions（出轨）行为。
