奥斯卡“小金人”就要正式颁发了，获得提名的明星们大概心都提到了嗓子眼。但是如果不幸落选，也不必扫兴。因为据统计，曾有不少明星在斩获奥斯卡奖后就败走麦城，票房成绩一路下滑，甚至入选“金酸梅奖”。

出现在海报上的孩子，肯定是某个活动的代表了。Poster child 就是指“模范人物、典型代表”。它的原意是指身为慈善团体所赞助对象之一而出现在募捐海报中的孩童，也称为 poster boy/girl，例如：poster child for all endangered species（保护濒危物种的代言儿童）。后来这种用法逐渐引申到其它领域，意思就是“典型代表”。He was a living poster child for the evil potential of inherited wealth.（他就是受到继承财产负面影响的活生生例子。）

Poster 本意是指“海报”或者“广告”。最近公司让 Susan 做张 conference poster（会议海报），并预留出了 poster site（海报位）。回家的路上，她看到了很多 street poster（街头招贴）和 roadside poster（路边广告牌）。上次她坐火车忘记了时间，多亏 timetable poster（张贴式列车时刻表）。
